The brand profile: the layer that actually changes AI content

August 28, 2026 · 6 min read

Ask a general-purpose writing tool to "write a blog post for my industry" and you'll get a good piece of text. The trouble is your competitor asks the same thing and also gets a good piece of text — largely the same one. Not because the model is bad, but because it knows nothing about you. All it has is the topic, so it writes the average known thing about that topic.

A context window is not brand memory

The common workaround is pasting company details at the start of every chat. That works up to a point, then breaks in two places. First, consistency: you paste a slightly different summary each time and the brand voice drifts from piece to piece. Second, scope: what you paste is usually "what we do", while what the text actually needs is who you speak to, the tone you use, what you deliberately don't say, and which subjects you have standing to talk about.

A profile is a structured map, extracted from sources

A brand profile isn't a form you fill in; it's a structured record EXTRACTED from your site and the documents you upload. It holds your industry, offerings, audience definition, tone descriptors, the topic clusters you could own and — most importantly — sample passages taken from the brand's own sentences. That last item matters: telling a model to "write warmly" is very different from showing it three sentences the brand actually wrote.

What's missing is as useful as what's found

The second thing extraction surfaces is what it couldn't find. No physical location, no explanation of how pricing works, an invisible team — each of these directly caps the quality of the writing, because information that isn't there can't make it into the text. The same list doubles as a to-do list for the site itself: a buyer, and an answer engine trying to understand your brand, are looking for exactly those gaps.

Built once, used in every piece

The real gain is reuse. When a blog post, a LinkedIn update and a social caption all draw on the same map, three channels speak with one voice — and you don't re-explain it every time. In agencies the gain is sharper still: each client has their own profile, so the voice holds even when the person producing the content changes.

Seeing your own map

You don't have to be a customer to have a brand profile extracted. You can give your site's address, run the same extraction for free and see your own brand map and gap report — without signing up. The result is often surprising: what your site says about you turns out to differ from what you thought it said.
